Django Unchained

Django Unchained is a 2012 western film directed by Quentin Tarantino, starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio. It drew a wide audience and shaped its genre.
Plot
In 1858 Texas, several male African American slaves are being "driven" by the Speck Brothers, Ace and Dicky. Among the shackled slaves is Django, sold off and separated from his wife, Broomhilda. The Speck Brothers are stopped by Dr. King Schultz, a German ex-dentist and bounty hunter from Düsseldorf. Schultz asks to buy one of the slaves, but while questioning Django about his knowledge of the Brittle Brothers, for whom Schultz is carrying a warrant, he irritates Ace, who aims his shotgun at Schultz.
Production
Written by Quentin Tarantino, the film was produced by The Weinstein Company. Luis Bacalov composed the score. Robert Richardson handled the cinematography. The film runs 165 minutes. The crew and editing refined every shot.
Reception
On a budget of $100,000,000, Django Unchained grossed $425,368,238 worldwide at the box office. A critic consensus praised its screenplay and score.
Legacy
Its legacy endures through a remake, a sequel and a lasting franchise; later cinema cites its influence and symbolism.
